"We see on a daily basis the incredible courage and perseverance of refugees who have lost everything. From them, every day spent in exile or flight is a day too long.
This is why World Refugee Day should be, for all of us, a time to pause and think. Because if they refuse to give up hope, how can we?"

Ruud Lubbers
United Nations High Commissioner for Reffugees

photo   This year IAN decided to commemorate the 20th June, World Refugee Day, by organizing a concert in the centre of Belgrade. Traditional music of the people from Krajina, national costumes and customs shown through national dance, for the moment took the audience to the areas where many citizens of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina left their pre-war homes.

During the concert IAN promoted its latest publication "Refugee short cuts" that contains three real life stories about three young men who fled from Knin in 1995. The author of the stories is Igor Coko, a journalist from "Pravi odgovor", himself a refugee, an author of a rich and unique style.

In this way we wanted to remind the people in Serbia that the problem of refugees has not been resolved, that it is, on the contrary, a part of our reality and that all of us, together, should and have to participate and help in resolving it.
