Telecentre-Europe Summit 2009
14-15 October 2009

IAN Telecentar representatives participated in the Telecentre-Europe Summit 2009 from 14 to 15 of October in Istanbul, Turkey. The summit brought together around 90 leaders from NGOs, public and corporate sector as well as the European Commission around the challenges of broadening the information society to almost 300 million Europeans excluded today. The event had a number of high-level keynote speakers, and this was an opportunity for telecentre leaders and activists to meet, exchange experiences and shape the future plans for the network. Fundamental themes & barriers that determine e-inclusion and the success of NGOs working in this area were tackled. Several NGOs presented initiatives on these topics already running successfully around Europe that will now likely grow to other countries.

IAN Telecentar also presented a part of its work focusing on impact of long-term and short-term education programs. At the Summit a number of thematic resources have been launched that will be of direct benefit to members. Each resource is available to network members online under following five themes - Employability, Accessibility, Capacity building, Citizenship, and Sustainability.

Telecentre-Europe is a network with 70 member organisations in 52 countries, which, in 2 years of functioning, has visibly established itself as a critical voice for driving change on e-inclusion and inclusive innovation in Europe at local & national level.
