Development of integrated mental health and social services for a model region
Project "Development of integrated mental health and social services for a model region" has been implemented since 2007 and is funded by the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Kingdom of Netherlands . This project is another example of successful cooperation between IAN and Global Initiative in Psychiatry . The project goal is to create a functional regional network of accessible community mental health and social care services in the community of southern Serbia, as a model for the rest of the country, which supports the integration of people with mental illness into society, and increases the involvement of users of mental health services and their relatives in the service delivery.
As part of project activities, IAN in partnership with GIP is upgrading professional capacities through education and transfer of experiences from Netherlands , of community mental health centre "Medijana", first institution of its kind in Serbia .
High standards of the project "Development of integrated mental health and social services for a model region" are confirmed through development of Guidelines on community mental health, written by prominent experts.
Project team is especially proud of activities based on empowering user movement in Serbia through various forms of education, direct assistance and networking. Through empowering users, we are getting closer to our vision were service providers, together with users, are jointly developing modern services that are more accessible, efficient and cost-effective than current.
