photo   On 21st September 2001 IAN organized a tournament in bowl-playing, a game mostly played in Dalmatia. This was a good opportunity for the people originating from those areas to gather and, at least for a moment, feel as if back at home again. Thus, neighbours that haven't seen each other for years, met in the tournament and there were lots of hugs, kisses and tears.

Sixteen teams participated in the tournament and competed in two disciplines: 'triplets' and 'precise hits'. The tournament, with more than 400 participants, began with qualifications early in the morning. Since the co-organizer was Bowl-playing club "Kozara", Yugoslavian champion in this discipline, rules of professional bowl-playing were applied: the players used metal bowls. Players from the collective centres were not pleased with this since they usually play with wooden bowls. However, the misunderstanding was soon straightened out with a glass of bear.

photo   For the families of the participants from the collective centres Šimunovci, Cortanovci and Braneško Po lje we organized a visit to the Belgrade Zoo (for some of them the first ever), and then a funfair that they deeply enjoyed. In the afternoon there the a capella group 'Tromedja' and the folklore group 'Krajina' performed. Playing traditional Dalmatian instruments and singing the songs from Lika, they brought back the atmosphere that used to prevail there in happy times in the past. Women refugees from Krajina, members of 'Lastavica' Association, presented their handiworks with traditional motives.
photo   In the end the 'Kozara' team won the competition, but a moral victory belonged to the team of the collective centre Cortanovci that finished third, but for whom this was the first professional tournament.
